Latest figures show that more than 30,000 abusive posts against players, coaches and referees have been flagged and reported to FIFA’s Social Media Maintenance Service (SMPS) this year. Among them, some of the most serious cases have been handed over to law enforcement agencies for processing, and some violators will be prohibited from entering the competition venue and purchasing tickets.
Since the SMPS (Social Media Monitoring and Maintenance System) was launched in 2022, more than 65,000 abusive posts have been reported to major social platforms, of which more than 30,000 have been reported this year alone.
Infantino emphasized: "On the International Day for Tolerance, I want to make it clear that football must be a safe and inclusive space - whether on the playing field, in the stands, or in cyberspace. Through SMPS and the combination of advanced technology and professional teams, FIFA is taking decisive measures to protect players, coaches, teams and referees and prevent serious harm caused by online abuse."
